Lead a Genesis-to-Revelation Class
These 30-theme Bible overview lessons were developed in church classes with hundreds of students over 20 years. The book format works well in personal, small group, and class settings. For classes and small groups, the Guide and teaching materials will help provide a learning foundation for future in-depth studies of various Bible books. The weekly Lessons will strengthen your group's Biblical literacy, personal belief and growth together. Pastors and preachers may want to consider giving a 30-week sermon series based loosely or specifically on the 30-Lesson Outlines, creating a church-wide involvement in the whole-Bible journey. The adult class then creates a discussion forum for the weekly sermon and coordinated Lesson discussion questions.

In a church class or a smaller Bible study group, The Bible Study Guide helps you extend inductive learning into active discussions of the weekly questions. The Guide's prepared questions organize and lead the participant into a regular course of searching Scripture for the lesson's key parts of God's narrative story. The participants bring their written answers into conversational discussions where Bible-based learning flourishes. At least half of the class meeting time should be scheduled for discussion, in smaller discussion groups of 4-7 participants. If you teach a larger church class--such as on Sundays or evenings, the class might also hear a short Lesson introduction--based on learning objectives. Then divide into three- or foursome groupings within the class for discussions lasting about 25 minutes. |
Following the discussions, add a 20-to-30-minute teacher-led lecture including time of reflection and prayer. The Guide's 30 Lesson Summaries provide participants an overview of the Lesson's narrative story, as well as contextual facts about that Bible book or group of books.
The teacher's prepared lecture can follow the Guide Summary, or complement it at a more theological and/or application level. Perfect companion for Bible study church groups! The Bible Study Guide is both compact and comprehensive--it packs a lot of information! I really like how it is structured in chronological order, from 'Genesis to Revelation,' and how it covers both the Old and New Testaments using 'Thirty Themes in Thirty Lessons.' The weekly lessons generate helpful discussion of scripture themes, and the thought-provoking lesson questions allow one to really delve into Bible passages and explore their meaning and message. Each lesson contains an introduction, questions, and a helpful summary that imparts more scriptural, historical and geographical context.
